One of the most frequent issues our clinics respond to is in regards to lost and broken eyeglasses. Here are a few reasons why we urge patients to consider a second pair of eyewear:
ACCIDENTS HAPPEN
These are all true stories that we’ve heard from our patients: Glasses fell in toaster and got melted. A bird flew away with them. They fell in the lake. The dog chewed them up. Accidents happen, and a backup pair of glasses will help save you unnecessary stress, should the unexpected happen!
OUT OF CONTACTS
For those who primarily wear contacts, it is important to have a backup pair of glasses in case you run out of contact lenses. Sometimes that last set of contacts has rips or tears, leaving you with no way to see clearly!
CURRENT BACKUP IS AN OLD PRESCRIPTION
Having a backup pair of glasses is not helpful if the prescription is so outdated that you can’t wear them safely (i.e. driving).
GLASSES GET LOST
Sometimes your eyewear just disappears. Whether you’re on vacation or even just at home, sometimes your glasses go missing! Having a backup pair will help keep your daily life from being disrupted.
YOUR EYES NEED A BREAK FROM CONTACTS
Allergy season can wreak havoc on your eyes, causing them to be dry and itchy. Also, eye emergencies such as foreign objects or pink eye will require you to stay away from contacts until your eyes can heal. Wearing glasses will allow your eyes to rest!
